How do I charter the Marissa for a bay cruise?

How much does it cost to charter the boat?

     It costs $400 / hour, with a 2-hour minimum. 

How long can I charter the boat for?

You can charter the boat up to 6 hours. 

Can I charter the Marissa and the Hot Tub Cruisn' boat at the same time? 

Yes! Please call or email us for this option and we will coordinate our schedules. (Charters limited to 4 hours)

Can I bring my pet on board?

You may bring one dog on board, provided you understand not all dogs care for the movement of the boat and often are afraid. We recommend only bringing your dog if you know he/she likes boats.

How many people can I bring?

You can bring up to 20 people total. 

What should we bring with us on the boat?

Things you would bring on any boat, sunscreen, towels (if you want to swim), food/snacks, drinks, etc. 

Is the boating safe?

Your boat is Captained and crewed so you do not have to worry about driving or maneuvering the boat. The Marissa is equipped with full safety equipment and our crew is trained in using all of the equipment. 

Can I bring children on the boat?

Of course! We allow up to 3 children under 90lbs each. Please contact us if you have more children than that.  ​​

Can I bring alcohol on board? 

Yes! You can bring alcohol on board. A large cooler is provided for your use. 

Is there a cooler on board?

A large cooler is provided for your use. 

Can I bring food and drinks? 

Yes! you can bring whatever food and drinks suit your needs.  

Is there a sound system available to play music? 

Yes! We have a sound system with an aux cable connection.

Can I Vape/e-sig on board?

Yes, as long as you party is okay with it, we are too.  

Can I bring recreational drugs? 

NO. We cannot allow drugs of any kind, recreational or otherwise. 

What happens if there is bad weather prior to or during my charter?

Our top priority is safety! If we are not able to operate the boat due to weather, we will contact you as soon as possible to reschedule your cruise. If your rental is cut short you will only be charged for the time you use the boat and we will work to schedule another cruise. Rentals will only be cancelled due to "dangerous" weather conditions. A $100 deposit is required for all reservations and this will not be refunded if you cancel your reservation due to "non-dangerous" weather.




Rules, Regulations & Cancellation policies  

To ensure you have safe and enjoyable time on board the Marissa, we request that you read through and adhere to our rules and safety regulations.


Failure to abide by these regulations may result in forfeiture of your charter and additional charges.


General and Boating Safety:


  1. Have Fun! You’re on a boat cruising beautiful Mission Bay! 

  2. All persons on board the Marissa, come on board at their own risk and must review the Bay Cruise Charter Contract, Waiver and Release of Liability Agreement, Acknowledgment of Risk, Rules/Regulations/Safety Checklist, and the USCG Boating Checklist prior to use. Therefore, no extra persons may join the boat if they did not leave from the Sportcenter Dock.

  3. The Marissa can handle a maximum 20 person capacity on the boat at any time.

  4. No careless or unlawful behavior will be tolerated.

  5. NO DRUGS are allowed on the Marissa. All USCG vessels are NO Tolerance, DDrug-Free zones.

  6. No more than 3 individuals under 90 lbs will be permitted on the Marissa. Any children must be supervised by an adult.

  7. In the event of lightening or inclement weather, the Captain will immediately return the boat to the dock at Mission Bay Sportcenter.

  8. All persons must use caution while boarding, disembarking, and moving around onboard.

  9. Glass is prohibited on the boat at all times.

  10. Marissa Charters reserves the right to retake possession of any rented equipment at any time at Lessee’s expense if the passengers and/or equipment is used in violation of this agreement, any law.

  11. Lessee is liable for any loss or damage to this boat and its accessories and any “excessive” cleaning necessary after use. 

  12. If charter returns 15 minutes late, the lessee will risk deposit forfeiture and an addition hours charge. 

  13. Persons are advised to read all printed restrictions and the liability waiver, before agreeing to a Marissa Charters Charter.



Cancellation Policy: 


Note: All rental reservations are subject to a $215 non-refundable deposit that will be charged if a cruise is canceled or rescheduled within 14 days of reservation.


Cancellation or rescheduling of reservation: If the cancellation or rescheduling is within 14 days of reservation, the customer will be charged a $400 fee (one hour). If using a voucher/coupon (i.e. UT Deal, Deal Current, Groupon, Living Social, etc), cancellation within 14 days will result in the voiding of the voucher’s full value. Cancellation within 24 hours of the reservation will result in a charge for the full amount of the charter ($400/hr). Cancellation or rescheduling more than 14 days prior to the reservation is permitted. Customer must submit cancellation to Marissa Charters via email to to cancel or reschedule cruise. We are sorry for the strict cancellation/rescheduling policy but we only have one boat and the charter slots are in high demand.


We ask that you please reschedule or cancel at least 2 weeks before the beginning of your appointment or you may be charged a cancellation fee of $400 (or full rental charge if less than 24 hours notice is given).

Any voucher (i.e. UT Deal, Deal Current, Groupon, Living Social, etc) is not valid on any calendar holiday or holiday weekend (Friday – Sunday/Monday)


***We understand coordination may be difficult but we will allow only one rescheduling of more than 14 days prior to the scheduled cruise date, the second rescheduling will require a new deposit.***

In the event of a weather-related cancellation, a one-hour rain check deposit will be taken and will be valid to use toward a future cruise for up the three months from the date of the canceled cruise. 

In the case of a complete cancellation you will not be refunded the deposit.
